My name is Jacob and the other Co-Author is Ryan, and we have been friends for the better part of 2 decades now. Huh, that’s weird to say, getting old is an odd process indeed. Anyway, I do most of the day to day writing of Corlex, and Ryan helps to generate story idea.
Tell us about your book.
Corlex is set almost 500 years in the future, our solar system has been colonized but we never found other intelligent life as we explored the confines our solar system. The protagonist is Cody Corlex, a sharp shooting bounty hunter that is almost a man out of time. Cody has a lot of demons and he also deals with some level of arrested development and PTSD that happened after the love of his life tragically dies in a terrorist attack.
The world itself, which I admit I’m still building out, is going to be a high tech world in some places, but still very frontier in other. In episode 1, we have already explored nano-bots, holographic tech, and other fun things that will play important roles in the future of the world.
What inspired you to write Corlex Episode 1 - Titan and the Reaper?
Ryan and I, do a weekly podcast called Forty2 (www.f2en.com) where we discuss “The failing of the late, great human race.” One day after the show, Ryan brought up the base idea for Corlex, something about a bounty hunter in the future and it went from there. I had been playing with a lot of ideas for a story over the last few years, Zombies Dystopia, I even tried writing a romance novel but none of them seem to stick. The next day, I went to lunch at work, pulled out my notebook and started writing and something clicked, and the next thing we know, we are here finished with one episode and very close to finishing the second.
How much time per week do you spend writing / editing your work?
This really depends on the week, I am still a full time engineer, I’m married and have other obligations. Ryan is also married, and has a couple of kids, so time for us is a very limited resource. In terms of time actually spent with pen and paper, or keyboard and word processor, I’m lucky to get an hour a day in. Most days I probably only get 30-45 minutes a day.
I find that is much more important to put in the mental time in, and give the story as much time as possible there. Most days by the time I actually get to sit down and work on Corlex, I have everything I need to have written down, already lined out in my head and I just need to let it dump out onto the page.
What are you working on at the moment?
We are currently working on the second episode of Corlex which is tentatively titled “A Journey Through the Stars.” It will focus on a lot of Corlex’s backstory and how he was betrayed by his former friend Daven. Episode 2 will setup some of the major plot points for the rest of the first season and some of the plot points will run through the rest of the story.
Thank you for having us.

The sound of the Solar Trains cry above as he hunts for his bounty, today a half-cyborg pirate, tomorrow a nano-bot infused scoundrel.
He is one of the few of his kind, he chases the Solar System’s worst villians alone, only equipped with his wits, and the fastest draw in the Galaxy
Jacob Bio:
A little about Jacob:
For as much as I think I’m probably different than most writes, I’m probably not. I am an engineer by trade, with 2 degrees in finance, but I live for my lunch break because that is when I get to write. The last year or 2 I’ve been playing around with different ideas and none of them seemed to stick, but then Ryan came to me with the idea for Corlex and one simple question “Do you want to write a book together?” and that as they say ‘Is History.’
Some of what I like:
I’m a giant nerd, I’ve been watching Star Trek since I was 7, I love going to Cons and DOTA 2 is my favorite game. However, on any given fall Saturday though you will find me in front of my TV cheering on the Oklahoma State Cowboy Football Team with my wife.
Ryan Bio:
I’ve always had a fervent curiosity about the sci-fi world, but never truly pursued writing it down on paper until my good friend Jacob and I schemed together the idea for Corlex. He has always been a great inspiration to me and I am thankful for the opportunities we have to come up with new ideas for you readers!
I spend most of his time dreading the work hour, and when I come home I soak up much needed family time with my wife and two boys. I have always been an avid and dedicated game, and recently opened my own stream under Twitch. Here you can find me testing out all the newest games such as Fallout 4, The Witcher 3, GTA5, and more!
