Review: Hot shot skier and party girl Carly Carrington is on top of the world... But then a crash destroys her dreams for the championships. Paul Blackburn is the talented sports doctor who might be able to heal her body... But can he heal her heart too?

I love sports romance, and "Winner Take All" is such a beautiful, amazing story. Carly and Paul grow and change so much throughout the book. The writing is splendid, and this is the perfect read for a cold winter's night!

Title: Goddess of the Wild ThingAuthor: Paul DeBlassie III
Genre: Paranormal Thriller
Goddess of the Wild Thing is a dramatic tale of one woman’s spiritual journey where magical happenings, unexpected turns of fate, and unseen forces influence her ability to love and be loved. Eve Sanchez, a middle-aged woman and scholar of esoteric studies, encounters a seductive but frightening man who introduces her to a supernatural world in which the wicked powers of a surrogate mother’s twisted affection threaten love and life. In the mystic realms of Aztlan del Sur, Eve and three friends struggle with whether bad love is better than no love and discover that love is a wild thing.

Review: What an insightful, yet thrilling, exciting rollercoaster of a book. Eve Sanchez is an unlikely protagonist, middle-aged, scholar of esoteric studies, but otherwise not that exceptional... Until she meets a man who introduces her to a world she never knew existed, where she feels things she never thought she would. The story and characters compelled me to keep turning the pages.

Title: Fool Me Twice
Author: Philippa Jane Keyworth
Genre: Historical Romance
In the gaming hells of eighteenth century London, orphan Caro Worth is leading a double life. By day she plays a proper gentlewoman on the lookout for a wealthy husband. By night she plays the infamous Angelica, her fictional half-sister with a talent for cards and an ability to finance the life her respectable self has built. An introduction to a rich Marquis brings marriage and security within Caro’s grasp…until the arrival of the unpredictable and totally ineligible Mr. Tobias Felton.
Dismayed by Felton’s persistent appearances, shocking frankness, and enigmatic green eyes, Caro watches helplessly as he comes closer than anyone to guessing her secret, but when complete and utter ruin threatens, she finds that Felton’s suspicions just might become her salvation. As the walls she has built to protect herself crumble down around her, Caro learns that no matter how careful your plans, life and love have a habit of falling quite spectacularly out of control!

Review: What a sizzling romance between two characters who at first don't seem to get along, but have a lot more similarities between them than either of them thinks at first. Caro is amazing, and I loved her! She was so brave, not afraid to be different, and made such bold choices.

Title: The Moreva of Astoreth
Author: Roxanne Bland
Genre: Science Fiction
In the world-building tradition of Andre Norton, Anne McCaffrey and Ursula K. LeGuin, The Moreva of Astoreth is a blend of science fiction, romance, and adventure in a unique, richly imagined imperialistic society in which gods and science are indelibly intertwined. It is the story of priestess, scientist, and healer Moreva Tehi, the spoiled, headstrong granddaughter of a powerful goddess who is temporarily exiled from Temple life in her beloved desert home to a volatile far northern corner of the planet for neglecting to perform her sacred duty, only to venture into dangerous realms of banned experimentation, spiritual rebirth, and fervent, forbidden love.

Review: What a complex, emotional book with rich, multi-dimensional characters who stand out, and what an amazing, fascinating plot. I got totally sucked into this book, and I couldn't stop reading. It was just so exciting!

Title: 10 Bits of Wisdom from the Shoe Shine Guy
Author:
John Early
Genre: Spiritual / Inspirational
John Early worked in the corporate world for over 25 years. From the outside looking in, it seemed as though he had it all: the beautiful family, the magnificent home, the nice cars and great vacations, the fabulous income with the big 401k. He had what most would consider the American Dream. This was John’s idea of a dream, and this dream was all about him. Then suddenly, in an instant, like the Apostle Paul on the road to Damascus, John had an encounter with God that transformed his life forever. John takes the reader through that transformation and the total impact it had on not only his life, but on the lives of those around him, especially those closest to him-his wife and children. He lays out the 10 key bits of wisdom that were instrumental in reconciling and rebuilding those broken relationships. His road on this journey is paved with: Knowing your purpose, Character, Attitude, Goals, Teamwork and Trust, Respect, Courage, Regrets, Reconciliation, and Grace. This book shows all of us, no matter our circumstances or how dark our days may seem, that God is brighter still. Let God start to transform your life.

Review: An inspiring book about a man who converted back to religion in a late state of his life, allowing himself to become vulnerable once again after building up a wall around himself and his emotions for years. The book also focuses on the principles he feels guide himself, and should guide everyone. I enjoyed it, but it took a while to get into it.

Book Review Satyr from the Shadows

Title: Satyr from the Shadows

Author
: Rebekah Lewis

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Long ago, a nymph fell in love with a mere mortal destined to be a legendary hero. Until the gods saw fit to tear them apart and tamper with fate.

Everyone has heard the story of Daphne and Apollo, of her transformation into a laurel tree to escape his obsession. If only it were so simple. Held prisoner for thousands of years, Daphne is close to death until a last minute rescuer smuggles her out of Olympus and to Melancton, the satyr she loves.

Melancton has always preferred to be on his own, keeping to the shadows and maintaining a stoic appearance. Only Daphne can be the light to his darkness, and now that she’s returned, the fear of losing her again shakes him. With grave danger lurking on the horizon, Melancton and the satyrs of The Aegean Inn prepare for battle, but the odds are stacked against them.

Meanwhile, Apollo enlists the aid of Dionysus in his determination to reclaim Daphne and punish those responsible for her disappearance. Is it possible to survive the fury of the gods?

Review: Despite not having read book one and two, I could follow along remarkably well. The book focuses on the myth of Daphne and Apollo, and "Satyr from the Shadows" builds on that story and expands it, making it a lot more interesting, with the addition of Melancton, a satyr. This is the first book I've read that focuses on a satyr, and it's great. I definitely want to read more books featuring satyrs - I'll probably go through a satyr phase now, like I went through a selkie phase last year, LOL. The other gods appear too, and there's a ton of characters. An entertaining book!

Title: Blue Wide Sky

Author: Inglath Cooper

Genre: Contemporary Romance

First love. . . forever love.

Sixteen-year old Gabby Hayden wasn’t the kind of girl who gave a hoot about boys. She had a few real loves. Water-skiing, going out on Smith Mountain Lake with her dad and her dog. Anything else ranked a distant second. Until the summer smart, caring, gorgeous Sam Tatum gave her his heart. It had been the most wonderful time of her life, lazy days hanging out at the dock, skinny-dipping at midnight, staring up at the stars from the back of Sam’s truck.

They are planning their future together when Sam’s father is transferred to South Africa. Devastated, Gabby and Sam promise to wait for each other during the two years before he returns for college. But lonely and angry, Sam makes a mistake that will change the course of both their lives.

Years later, an unexpected diagnosis brings Sam home to his parents’ house on Smith Mountain Lake where he believes he can find peace and acceptance. What he finds, however, is the girl he once loved, now a woman unwilling to lose him again, a woman who will make him realize that both love and life are worth fighting for.

Review: A heart-warming contemporary romance. Sixteen-year-old Gabby and her boyfriend Sam spent the most wonderful summer of their lives together. But when Sam's father is transferred to Africa, and a night full of mistakes makes Sam lose Gabby. He fears it might be forever but when years later an unexpected dianogsis brings Sam back home to his parent's house and Sam and Gabby meet again. Their old love rekindles and they reunite again, but they're not the same people anymore as they were years ago.

It's an intriguing book, the characters are engaging, and I loved Gabby. If you like contemporary romance that isn't just about lust but focuses on so much more, then I'd recommend this one.

Book Review Why Women Cheat

Title: Why Women Cheat: Confessions of a Pickup Artist

Author
: Daniel Gray

Genre: Non-Fiction / Relationships

Why do women keep falling for pickup artists?  I’ve seen it with my own eyes many times.  I’ve witnessed the inner transformation take place right in front of their significant others; unbeknownst to them.  it’s as if I, and people like me, exist in an alternate universe; like the Matrix.

This book is about:

*Lifting the veil of pickup artistry.

*Informing women about the most popular tactics.

*Teaching attached men how to use these tactics on their own women.

In truth, such a subject is difficult to explain in words.  Many guys, including myself, spend thousands of dollars to learn directly from someone who knows.  I attempt to bridge that gap with three anonymous female writers from around the world.  They are informative and entertaining.

After reading this book, women will have a clearer understanding about what motivates them, and men will recognize that unknown thing that has escaped them their entire lives.  Men and women, single or attached will find this book eye opening.

What are you waiting for?  Don’t you want to know why women cheat?

Buy the Book on Amazon

Review: Interesting read, about what makes a pick-up artist, the tricks they use and how women can fall into their traps. I did enjoy the book and it shed some lights on things that surprised me when I first heard about this phenomenon.
