About the Book

Title: Believe in Me – Real Love Series Book 2
Author: Angela Coffey
Genre: Erotic Romance
With his rugged good looks and quiet demeanor, actor Dylan Cross was the epitome of mysterious sex appeal. Playing the role of the President of an outlaw MC Club put him in the spotlight and meant he never heard the word `no’, especially from California girls. That changed the day he met Tara Black; a small town tattoo artist trying to find her place in the world of modeling for the Alternative Girl agency.
With a past full of horrible memories and emotional demons, Tara hides her insecurities with a beautiful smile. Content being alone, she closets herself from any type of intimacy.
It was a simple twist of fate that sparked their unlikely friendship that quickly blossomed into a heated attraction and unbreakable bond. Since a person can only fight love for so long, they were left with a decision: all or nothing.
When a single phone call opens the flood gates of Dylan’s past, that decision is put on hold as he returns to his home town of Woodstock, NY.
Can Tara handle the life changing issues headed Dylan’s way?
Can Dylan convince Tara that, regardless of the past, he wants her to be his present and future?
Will they find a way to walk through each other’s trials hand in hand, leaving them with a love that is perfectly imperfect?

Atia stared coldly at all the self-righteous bastards. The last she’d seen of her da and uncle was when they sailed away on Lucky Charms. It was after they helped her escape from Crisp’s slaver captain, Mandingo, and also the pirate Slasher Al. She had waved almost cheerfully; unaware it was the final goodbye. “You’ll not go from me sight, only from me view,” her da had told her before they parted ways. Now her da was dead and Uncle Rourke too. She prayed to all the gods that her brothers were safe. They had been sent to Aragua on an errand.
Atia eyed a guard’s belt, where a dagger gleamed. The shackles weighed heavy on her limbs, but she had just enough leeway.
“Atia Crisp, you are charged with associating with a known pirate, mischief—” Goblet stopped.
Atia grabbed the weapon and plunged it into the guard’s neck. He screamed and flailed his arms, trying to shake her off. Blood jetted everywhere, saturating her dress.
“Order!” Goblet demanded and pointed at the remaining guards, who were staring in shock. “Well, stop her!”
Blower and a guard tackled Atia. Her face was slammed onto the wet floor. The blade slipped from her hand. She was then forced to her feet with a guard on each side of her.
Goblet jotted down an additional note. “You can add murder to your list of charges.”
“Uh, he’s not dead,” a guard said.
Goblet crossed it out and rewrote the line. “Fine. For attempted murder, you are so charged.”
The bleeding guard released a final gasp.
“Oh, he died,” Blower said.
Goblet was about to cross out what he’d written again.
“You’re sure?”
“Aye, he’s dead.”
“And murder,” Goblet continued. “Have you anything to say for yourself before I have you locked in the dungeon as a dangerous offender?”
An evil grin formed on Atia’s lips. “I’m a dangerous offender now, Da. Yer little girl’s all grown up!”
“Take her away and lock her up. Lock the rest of them up for interrogation,” Goblet ordered.
“Me Capitaine’s coming back for me. He’s comin’ for his dangerous offender,” Atia cackled.
“We’ll see how a month in the dark agrees with your tongue.” Goblet smacked the mallet again. “Court is adjourned.”

Book Excerpt

The girls walk slowly inside the Crystal Palace. It’s hard not to be distracted by the magnificence, but Lizzie, McKenzie, and Lucia do their best to stay focused. As they proceed to walk inside the place of the palace they see the Mimics, and standing behind them is the Same Glam Goddess.
“Thanks, Twinkle Toes, for that lovely performance earlier. You made getting the crystal that much easier,” says the Same Glam Goddess, laughing at McKenzie.
Lizzie and Lucia each put a hand on McKenzie’s shoulder and give her a tender smile.
“Pick on someone your own age!” Lizzie shouts.
The Same Glam Goddess gives a bold, piercing look and says, “Mimics, take care of them. Their presence offends me.”
The Mimics take out their beauty blasters. McKenzie, Lizzie, and Lucia take out their wands, fire off some darts, and hide behind a display.
A dart hits one of the Mimics square in the back. “Ow!” cries the Mimic. As she tries to nurse the wound in her back, the crystal falls to the ground.
The Same Glam Goddess clenches her fists and shouts, “You fool!”
Lizzie, McKenzie, and Lucia clutch hands and call out, “We know who you are, and we know what you do. You can’t make us the same. Princess Lovina, we need you.”
A golden light comes from the sky and begins to fill the Crystal Palace with rainbow colors.  Princess Lovina appears alongside Lizzie, McKenzie, and Lucia. Calmly, she says to the Same Glam Goddess, “Why are you doing this? You weren’t always this way. I remember when you were nice.”
The Same Glam Goddess clutches the Friendship Freeze Ray for dear life. “Maybe we were friends, but that was long ago.” A hurt expression covers her face. “Piggy Princess they called me, because of my flat nose. It may not have been you, Princess Lovina, but that does not matter. Now, I am fierce and everyone fears me. Those days are over!” shrieks the Same Glam Goddess as she aims the Friendship Freeze Ray at them.
Princess Lovina turns to the girls and says, “Let’s take care of her together!” Princess Lovina uses her Same Silencer, and Lucia, Lizzie, and McKenzie fire their wands.
Whoosh! An army of colors surrounds their frightful foe.
The Same Glam Goddess reacts swiftly. “You won’t get me this time. Mimics, disperse!” she says, vanishing into hazy air.

Nadine shook her head as she took a sip of water and Stella stabbed at a potato chip with her fork.
“They’re not racist.”
“That word did not leave my lips.”
“But you’re thinking it,” Nadine countered, somewhat defensive.
Stella raised an eyebrow to show that she was not impressed or intimidated.
“They’re just … really … traditional.”
“OK,” Stella muttered, as she chewed.
“Ray is not happy about the situation.”
“Would you be?”
“It’s not the same thing,” insisted Nadine.
“Course it is. It’s the politics of meeting the parents. You’ve met his, he hasn’t met yours. If it were to be the other way round, everyone would say that he wasn’t that hot on you.”
“Stella!”
“And they would be right.”
“That’s not fair.”
“Neither is this,” asserted Stella. “You made your parents believe that I was the only one there when you collapsed.”

“Stella, the pain may have made me delirious … later. You were definitely the only one with me in the house, when it happened.”
“Ray was there when you were taken to A&E. Whether he was there when it actually happened or shortly afterwards, is immaterial. The bottom line is that you didn’t tell your parents about Raymond. They have no idea of the guy’s existence, much less his role, when you were taken to hospital.”
“This is different.”
“Exactly! You change the subject every time it comes up, or you make excuses.”
“They’re not excuses. They’re valid reasons.”
“Yeah, yeah … your parents are traditional and your dad might have a heart attack if he suspects that there is a possibility of you ending up with a boy who’s not from your tribe. I’ve heard it many times. What you’ve implied to Ray however, is that your parents are always too busy to meet him. If someone gave either of us a penny for how many times you spun whatever line …”

“They are not lines, Stella.”
“… we’d be billionaires by now.”
“Whatever.”
“And I mean, billionaires in pounds … not Naira.”
“Bitch.”
“Touché.”
“Look, many guys would have split after the first round of excuses … sorry, valid reasons.”
“Ouch! Thanks!”
“I’m your girl, Nadine, I’ll tell you the truth.”
“OK, first of all, you might be part-American, but you’re not black. So you don’t get to use phrases like
I’m your girl.”

“And as if on cue, she changes the subject.”

Nadine sighed.
“Listen. You love him, he loves you. If I didn’t know better, I’d say this was down to some really powerful voodoo.”
Nadine gaped at her friend. “What?! You know I … you don’t even believe in voodoo.”
“No, I don’t. But he’s completely taken with you and as good as you probably are at blowing his brains out, I don’t think your relationship has lasted this long because you’ve got gold in your thong.”
“Charming! Would you try and get your voice up a notch? That way, everyone in the pub might actually hear you.”
“Whatever. You know what I mean.”
“We have our moments.”
“And this … your refusal to let the poor guy meet your parents, is causing a really huge moment.”
“Stella, you don’t understand.”
“Yes, I do. You’re mummy’s only girl and daddy’s only princess. You’ve met and are head over heels with a guy, who is not of the same tribe as you. He can’t even pronounce your surname properly.”
“You can’t.”
“No, but I’m not sleeping with you. And as great a friend as you are to me and all, I don’t want a future with you.”
            Nadine rolled her eyes.
“Stop trying to digress. Here’s what’s important. He treats you well. You get on. He ticks your boxes and hits your spot. Who cares where he’s from?”
“Chief and Mrs. Nwaturuegwu do. Is there a better way to explain this to you?”
“Please try to explain, because I’m not even going to pretend to understand why anyone would care where Ray is from.”
“I told you, already. They just will.”
“They haven’t even met him. How do you know that they will?”
“Oh, I know.”
“Nadine, your parents are very nice, but if you’re sure they’ll object just because of his tribe, you’re going to have to usher them into the twenty-first century. We live in a global village. They sent you to school in England; so the chances of you bringing home a bloke who’s not from the same place as you? Pretty much 50-50.”

Nadine sighed.
“Plus technically, as politically incorrect as it is to say so, Ray’s not even … white. What would they do if he was?”
“You don’t want to know.”
“OK, so you can’t be with a guy who is Nigerian like you; what would happen if he wasn’t even Nigerian, to start with?”
“Don’t ask.”
“Why not? His dad’s Nigerian, his mum’s African even if she’s mixed.”
“Ghanaian.”
“Yeah, Ghanaian. Whatever. Continuing with that political incorrectness thing I’ve got going …”
“You’re on a roll, like your mum’s countrymen would say. Why stop now?” Nadine replied, a hint of sarcasm evident in her voice.
“I’m fully white. That’s not a problem.”
“Yeah … we already agreed that we’re not each other’s type.”
“Thank heavens for that. Else one of us might be horribly heartbroken.”
“What am I going to do? Listen, Stella, Ray and I can’t have one more argument about this.”

“So, don’t. Don’t have an argument about it.”
“I mean, it’s one thing to say that I’m travelling to Nigeria and he can’t come with me; it’s quite another to say my parents are coming to visit and he can’t see them.”

“I’ve told you what I think.”

There was a pause.
“Hey,” Stella said.
“What?”
“Isn’t it the case that in Ghana, you come from where your mum comes from, instead of your dad?”
“Some places. Depends on the tribe, but some are matrilineal.”
“So, technically, Ray is African; he could be Ghanaian.”
“How does that help? If we go down that route, we’re way below square one, because it would mean he’s not even Nigerian.”
Nadine shook her head as she took a sip of water and Stella stabbed at a potato chip with her fork.

Title: Forever There For You
Author: Chioma Nnani
Genre: Romance
When NADINE is confronted with the reality of her failing marriage, her first instinct is to work it out. She has had it drummed into her that marriage is ‘for better, for worse’. Walking out is just not an option – her faith would condemn her and her culture would make her a pariah.
The combination of Nadine’s background, education, social standing, friendships, faith, experiences and past relationships is meant to equip her to become a success. Failure is alien to her and love means forgiving at all cost.
As she tries to survive and make the most of the curves that life has thrown her, she discovers that ’success’ is a subjective term, and ‘happily ever after’ is something that you have to discover and define for yourself …

As the walls she has built to protect herself crumble down around her, Caro learns that no matter how careful your plans, life and love have a habit of falling quite spectacularly out of control!

Review: What a sizzling romance between two characters who at first don't seem to get along, but have a lot more similarities between them than either of them thinks at first. Caro is amazing, and I loved her! She was so brave, not afraid to be different, and made such bold choices.

Her high heels dug into the soft earth beneath her.
Her skirt and blouse, damp with sweat, clung to her body.
The trees whistled above her, the wind whipping through the branches.
Her heart raced, slamming against her chest. Her right side ached, shooting the pain up toward her chin. Her mind raced as fast as her legs moved—escape remained her only option. A grimace twisted her lips, as the stitch in her side grew stronger.
Footsteps lingered behind her. Not far. Close. Veronica glanced over her shoulder, tripping on a branch beneath her. The soft earth padded her knee and braced her fall. Up. She shot to her feet, as her adversary threatened to close the distance even more.
Glancing over her shoulder, she saw only blackness. Nothing more. She strained to hear his labored breathing, but she heard only her heartbeat instead.
A shot rang out, slamming against a tree branch off to her left. Her head whipped around, as bark sprayed in every direction. A piece caught her cheek, slicing it, and she swiped it away with her left hand. Brushing it aside like a dead fruit fly.
The blood on her fingers lingered.
Saltwater dripped into her eyes, obscuring her field of vision. With the same hand, she wiped away the remnants of sweat—and transferred the blood to her cheek—as a voice called out to her.
“You won’t get far,” the voice said. “Daddy’s going to get you.”
She shook her head, just one quick motion to clear the voice from her mind. Her arms pumped at her sides, like two pistons working together. She grimaced as the darkness found her and a hand touched her shoulder. The hand was stiff, and it lingered longer than it should have. When she turned her head, she discovered it was a tree. An owl hooted above her, as dark shadows crept over her and the surrounding forest. The moon guided her. It was more than enough light to offer her a sense of direction.
She picked up her knees and pushed herself forward. Her hands pumped at her sides faster and faster, as the darkness nearly swallowed her whole.
She stumbled again. This time a rock caught the toe of her left foot. A knee glanced off a root and shot pain up her thigh. The stitch in her side continued to throb and grow with each passing second.

About the Book

Title: The Convenient Escape
Author: Robert Downs
Genre: Thriller
To Veronica Baird, escaping from an underground dungeon and racing through the woods, is anything but convenient, even as her captor in rubber mask attire proves rather persistent in his continued pursuit. Despite her apparent independence, she considers a partnership, albeit reluctantly, with a former classmate who may still have feelings for her.
Pete Nealey still has flashbacks to Iraq and, with the bottle as his eternal companion, tends to fall off of barstools at the most inopportune moments or pass out face down in the tavern parking lot. But what he may lack in cheerfulness, he more than makes up for with his steadfast loyalty to the cause, even when he ends up handcuffed to an air conditioner in a shoddy motel.
But unless Veronica can learn to trust Pete for more than just intermittent intervals, the slipshod relationship, and her freedom, won’t last…

When he’s not writing, Robert can be found reviewing, blogging, or smiling. Falling Immortality and Graceful Immortality helped him discover his true love: hard-boiled mysteries. LaCour’s Destiny helped him enter the mind of a female amateur sleuth with OCD tendencies. His fourth and fifth novels will come out this year with Black Opal Books.

Nagoth didn't speak to me after that first day. He was not particularly hostile, but was indifferent to my presence. I tried to make it up to him, some days after I arrived, by offering him my stapler; I had heard him asking for one. He was reading a book in the lounge, when I approached him. I had discovered that he often sat alone by himself. He cut the miserable picture of a lonely, little man.

“Here you are,” I said offering the stapler to him. “I heard you asking around for one.” I could see the hesitation in his eyes, before he stretched out his left hand to accept it. Now, in the part of the country where I come from, it is considered very rude, to take or accept something with your left hand. I immediately glanced at his right hand, in which he held the white handkerchief, that he always carried around. He followed the movement of my eyes, but made no attempt to switch hands.
“Thank you,” he said, rather brusquely, placing the stapler on the table. I gave him a stiff smile. I walked away, concluding that he was without manners. Later that day, he gave the stapler to Ayuba to return to me. That was when I realised that reaching out to him was pointless.

That evening, I met Mrs. Marshall in the garden, at the back of the Lodge. She was sitting on one of the wooden chairs, underneath some trees, just below my window. She was knitting a blue cap.
“I hope you don’t mind if I join you?” I asked.
“No, not at all,” she said. “Feel free.”
“You have a very sharp tongue, Mrs. Marshall.” I said with a laugh.
“Have I stung you with my tongue, Mr. Simpson? I like to think that I always tell the truth.”
“The truth can be very bitter,” I replied.
“But people often need the bitter pill of truth to free themselves from the delusions and shackles of self-deceit that they have woven around themselves.” She did not pause her knitting. Yes, she told the truth, but my concern was that she delivered it like a sledgehammer.
“But you have to be careful. You may not realise how deeply you hurt people.” I cautioned.
“I can take care of myself, Mr. Simpson. But, I know at least one person in this Lodge, who would not think twice about leaving a knife in your back, if they ever got the opportunity.” I laughed, knowing it was true. There was something else I was curious about. “How do you get your information about people, Mrs. Marshall?” I asked.
“I keep my eyes open and my ears to the ground,” she replied. I looked into her round eyes, which were certainly always open. Her protruding ears were also definitely alert and seemed to quiver at the slightest sound.

Her dire warning about someone wanting to kill me, proved prophetic. It almost came to pass, later that night.
It was about 11.00pm when I got up from bed. I had been turning and tossing for hours, unable to sleep. I decided to go down to the lounge, to see if there was anything good on television. I poured myself a glass of milk from the fridge, which I decided to take along. On opening my door, I was surprised to find the entire hallway in darkness. The light bulb must have burnt out.

I heard what sounded like the crash of thunder, followed by the sound of something falling to pieces, in Nagoth’s room. Almost immediately, he began to swear and cuss. His expletives would have made a nun blush, but I was no nun. I continued unabashedly, groping my way along the corridor towards the staircase. As I passed by Willie’s room, I heard him praying, energetically. I felt a surge of envy, when I heard snores coming from John’s room.

I'm not sure why, but as I got to the top of the long staircase, I hesitated. It was like standing at the edge of a gaping, pitch-black abyss. Ayuba had to do something about the lights.

Then, I heard quick footsteps behind me. I was surprised, because I had not heard any doors opening. I tried to turn around, but I felt two hands just before the wind knocked out of me and I fell headlong down the stairs. Milk splashed on me, as the glass clattered to pieces on the stairs.

I landed with a thud, at the bottom of the stairs. My left hand was twisted painfully behind my back. I heard doors open in quick succession and a torchlight appeared, pointing down at me.

“Father Lord! Who is there?” called out Willie. “Did you fall?”
“It’s me,” I groaned in pain. “Someone just pushed me down the stairs.”
“Father Lord!” exclaimed Willie. “Who would do such a thing?”
