Q: Please tell us about yourself.
I love a good story, one that I can talk about with friends and obsess over. It's what got me writing steamy romances and keeps me writing them. I enjoy learning new things – anything from belly dancing to the latest advances in medical science. I’m not very competitive except when playing Scrabble – then watch out. It gets a little crazy at our house. Not really. Well, sort of. It really depends who is winning at the time.
I have insomnia, so I write a lot at night. Once the day is through and everyone else is in dreamland, I release the ideas and dialogue I've been holding onto all day long. I have three children, two dogs, and a husband who keep me laughing, even when life gets hard.
Q: Tell us about your book
The Horse List is the first book in a trilogy. The second and third books are due to be released by Red Sage Publishing later this year.
The book follows Ava Black, who is recently divorced from an abusive husband and intent to regain control her life. She has two weeks before she moves back to her conservative hometown to start her life over.
Encouraged by her best friend, she resurrects the wish list she started as a young girl when her number one desire was her very own horse. Over the years, The Horse List had become a mature list of her most erotic sexual fantasies, and also a symbol of her rebirth as an independent woman. She can complete some of the items alone, but not everything. She needs a sexually experienced partner with resources and the connections to places she’s only dreamed of going.
The handsome and wealthy artist Eric North has everything she wants in a partner to complete her list, but he has some wishes of his own he wants added to her list. Her drive to complete the list might not be enough to overcome her fear of him discovering the scars left behind from years of abuse.
Q: What inspired you to write The Horse List?
The inspiration came during the drive home from a horse show my daughter was in. My daughter suggested we buy the horse she rode in the show knowing I have a deep fondness for that particular Quarterhorse. After a moment of wishing I had some farmland and could buy the horse, practicality took over. I started listing all the things we needed in order to have a horse which I called “The Horse List”. Not listening to my logic, my children, thinking this was a done deal and the gorgeous Jake was as good as ours, turned my practical list into a wish list. They started negotiating into the Horse List random things they wanted - an archery range, a cabin for just the boys, sheep, a Barndo for me and my daughter. It went on and on. While they were throwing out their random wish list, the wheels started turning in my mind about a sensual horse list and what that might be like. The story blossomed from there.
Q: How much time per week do you spend writing/editing your work?
It varies, but on average 15-40 hours a week depending on where I am in the writing stage of the projects I’m working on. I usually work on two or more at the same time.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
I’m working on a steamy contemporary romance about a woman whose life is falling apart and the man who is ready to pick up the pieces and put them back together with him firmly placed in the center. The other project I’m working on is a quirky contemporary romantic satire set in the fictional town in Georgia where the town folk will keep your secrets and make you feel loved. There are a lot of fun characters and some mystery thrown in for good measure.
Title: The Horse List
Author: Anna Lores
Genre: Erotic Romance
This work contains mature content, including graphic sexual descriptions and scenes, and is provided for adults only.
Recently divorced from an abusive husband still intent to control her life, Ava Black has two weeks before she moves back to her conservative hometown to start her life over.
Encouraged by her best friend, she resurrects the wish list she started as a young girl when her number one desire was her very own horse. Over the years, The Horse List had become a mature list of her most erotic sexual fantasies and a symbol of her rebirth as an independent woman. She can complete some of the items alone, but not everything. She needs a sexually experienced partner with resources and the connections to places she’s only dreamed of going.
Could the handsome and wealthy artist Eric North be the partner she seeks? Will her drive to complete the list be enough to overcome her fear of him discovering the scars left from years of abuse? Will Eric protect her from her ex-husband, or will she go home with her unrequited love, Brady Ross, and give up her one chance to complete The Horse List?
Anna started writing romance as a by-product of insomnia. After a year of late night reading, she borrowed her son’s laptop after he went to bed each night, and set about breathing life to her very own characters. After a month of writing in the middle of the night, she was surprised with a new laptop of her own to pursue her dreams. With a B.A. in English Literature and a desire to fill her world with wonderful stories she and her close friends could not just talk about, but gush over, she shed her job as mom of three in the late night hours and assumed her alter ego of dirty girl.
