Q: Please tell us about yourself.
I’m a stay at home mom of three boys, a dyslexic/dysgraphic writer (is that an oxymoron?), a lover of animals, family, books and hot heroes, an adrenaline junkie and a total geek girl.
My attention issues have found a home with my genre hopping. J I write everything from my international bestselling sweet romance series, Sweetwater County, to dark, edgy high fantasy with my Amazon bestselling series, The Shrouded Kingdoms, to my bestselling and Rone nominated young adult speculative fiction series, The Neumarian Chronicles.
The voices in my head now have a home. Yay!
Q: Tell us about your book
Fools Rush is a historical western romance set during the Gold Rush era.
The official blurb:
To avert an impending life of servitude, Bethany Cook seeks freedom on a wagon train bound for gold country. Disguised as a young boy she secures work as a travel companion with Thomas Nolan, a rich New Yorker who is on his own quest to distance himself from the nightmare of a fraudulent marriage.
A cross-country journey by Thomas’ side proves more difficult than Bethany anticipated when he becomes obsessed with her true identity—the golden haired beauty he shared one night of passion with. Bethany attempts to confess the truth, but a bounty hunter exposes her as a devious woman that lied to Thomas for months for her own evil gain. Her life and her heart now rest in the hands of Thomas, who must decide if he can forgive and marry her or leave her to the fate she’s brought upon herself.
Q: What inspired you to write Fools Rush?
I was inspired by Francine River’s, Redeeming Love. It’s my all-time favorite romance novel, and I’d always wanted to write a story set in the Gold Rush era. Although, I’m not a Christian author, nor is Fools Rush a Christian book, the inspiration of showing the struggles of a young woman during that time did find its way into my story.
I wrote Fools Rush in two weeks. The story poured out of me, but then I put it aside and didn’t go back to it for a couple of years. Once I dusted it off, and did some editing, I sent in the manuscript to several publishers who had requested the full. During this time, I started self-publishing and fell in love with it. I ended up pulling the book and publishing it myself.
Q: How much time per week do you spend writing/editing your work?
It’s my full-time job. Well, the kids, husband, house, errands, and other duties take most of my time, but I manage around 5-6 hours a day.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
I’m working on edits for an edgy new adult contemporary. Silver Edge is about a young woman who suffers from sensory integration disorder. She’s grown up in foster care and spent time on the streets until a man from the Straight Edge community rescues her from under a bridge and cleans her up. Now, she wants to find her own independence despite her difficulties. For the first time, she faces working a job, finding a home, and falling in love. It’s a heart wrenching tale of finding love beyond the life as a misfit, beyond the struggles of life, beyond the darkness of loss to the shimmering line of silver. The Silver Edge.
I’m also working on the next installment of Sweetwater County, 4th of July in Sweetwater County. This isn’t the ‘official’ blurb yet, more of a work in progress, but I’ll share it with you guys. Shh…don’t tell anyone. J
Julia Cramer dedicates her life to protecting and caring for her child after friendly fire killed her husband overseas. She returns to nursing school in hopes to make a better life, but when childcare falls through and her survivor benefits are cut, she trusts the care of her son to a stranger.
Doug ‘Maverick’ Wilson, is discharged from the military after he made a bad call that cost him the lives of most of his comrades and both of his legs. Unable to face family, he abandons his business and hides in Sweetwater County. He finds some peace when he helps a beautiful young widow and her son, but the secret of his past looms with the threat to separate them forever.
Thanks so much for having me!!!
