Q: Please tell us about yourself.
A: I was born in Biggar, Saskatchewan, which is a small town in Canada. I'm the oldest of six children and I had a fun-filled childhood. Sports have been the main focus of my life, but reading and going to the movies were a close second and third. I've been married to my high school sweetheart for 36 years. We have a daughter who grew up listening to my made-up bedtime stories. Twenty years ago, our family moved to the Minneapolis, Minnesota. We enjoyed the beautiful city and area very much until we got tired of winter.
Five years ago, early retirement allowed my wife and I the opportunity to move somewhere warmer. After a looking at several southern areas, we chose southern Arizona and have been here since. A few years ago, as a Christmas present for my daughter, I put one of her favorite bedtime stories on paper. I've been writing ever since.
Q: Tell us about your book.
A: Xander and Yzzie are on their third adventure together. The middle graders take a trip to Area 51 with a friend who is designing a video game about the mysterious place. As they get closer, Xander begins to hear a strange voice in his head. The voice claims to be an alien that has been trapped in a laboratory deep under Area 51, since crashing his spaceship in 1947. Despite the fact, that no one had ever successfully broken into the world's most secretive and secure site and returned to tell about it, Xander and Yzzie agree to help the joke spouting alien get home to its family. Kids of all ages will enjoy this fast paced adventure. I thoroughly enjoyed writing it.
Q: What inspired you to write Escape From Area 51?
A: A trip to Nevada. My wife and I did some exploring and we drove past the mysterious Area 51.
Q: How much time per week do you spend writing/editing your work?
A: I spend twenty to thirty hours each week writing and/or editing. I'm a very early riser, and spend 3 to 4 hours each day, before breakfast, working on my books.
Q: If you could meet three authors, which authors would you chose?
A: From the past, I would chose Shakespeare since he was the greatest writer, ever. From the present, it would have to be Clive Cussler. I love his adventure novels and believe that he has lived a very interesting life. From my fantasy world, it would be Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion). 'Castle' is one of my favorite television shows of recent years.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm currently editing a story about a retired couple, co-incidentally, living in southern Arizona. This couple, however, are a former Interpol agent and an ex Special Forces soldier. When the granddaughter of a friend gets kidnapped and taken across the border by a ruthless Mexican gang, they are able to go places and do things that the police and FBI can't.
Thank you for your interest in my work. Keep reading my friends.
